IOP Publishing supplies full-text content to Publications Router

IOP Publishing, the publishing arm of the Institute of Physics, has become the latest publisher to supply full-text articles to Jisc’s Publications Router for onward distribution to institutions’ open repositories. This helps the institutions capture and disseminate the articles their researchers have written, showcasing the results of their research programmes and helping them demonstrate compliance with funding bodies’ open access requirements.

Starting with gold

IOP Publishing publishes journals and conference proceedings in physics, materials science, biosciences, astronomy and astrophysics, environmental sciences, mathematics and education. In the first instance it is supplying Router with gold open access articles from both its hybrid and wholly open access journals.

The articles will be sent to Router daily, upon publication. Repositories receive PDFs of the full-text articles in the published version of record, together with rich metadata including details of the licence. In most cases this content will arrive within two months of acceptance for publication.

Looking to the future

IOP Publishing intends to supply accepted manuscripts of subscription content with appropriate licensing metadata from a future date.

Jisc continues its discussions with this and many other publishers to extend the range of content Publications Router can pass on, and with system vendors to enable interoperability with an expanded range of platforms used by institutions.
